Located in the greater Pittsburgh area, The ExOne Company is a global provider of binder jet 3D printers. Our business primarily consists of manufacturing and selling 3D printers and 3D printed parts for our customers.
ExOne’s technical team includes world class engineers, material scientists and metallurgists, some with over 20 years of experience in binder jetting. Our machine engineering team consists of a variety of mechanical, electrical and software engineers. Through our ExOne Adoption Centers (“EACs”), we offer comprehensive application support to help our customers find innovative ways to leverage our technology. Our ability to print in a variety of industrial materials, as well as our industry-leading volumetric throughput, uniquely positions us to serve the needs of industrial customers.
Position Overview
The Product Launch Engineer is a hands-on role on ExOne’s growing engineering team. The Product Launch Engineer will work closely with the engineering and R&D teams on the final design and integration of new printers. As printers are installed at key customer sites, the engineer will be responsible for ensuring the customer is successful with their implementation of the printer and its ancillary equipment and that they are able to run in a production environment.
Working closely with ExOne’s service and machine build teams, the engineer will also be expected to provide feedback to the engineering team to improve and optimize future versions of the printer. This role requires a combination of strong skills in engineering processes, communication, team building, analytical skills, and an ability to coordinate resources from a variety of supporting teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to support installation and ensure customer’s success
- Develop and implement testing plan for new printers
- Provide verbal and written feedback to engineering team
- Develop and optimize procedures for efficient operation of printing systems
- Coordinate systems-level integration of binder jetting ecosystem
- Train internal operators and customers
Design, build and test prototype designs
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering or similar
Logical problem solver who enjoys interacting with customers on a daily basis
Experience with metal AM, preferably experience with binder jetting
Demonstrated history of managing and executing projects according to plan
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal while working in a collaborative, cross-team capacity
Strong attention to detail
Willingness to travel to customer sites for extended visits
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Able to bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry up to 50 lbs
Fine hand manipulation and dexterity to use hand tools, power tools and other detail work
Visual acuity sufficient to read schematics and prints
