    John Hartner joined The ExOne Company as Chief Operating Officer in November 2018.  Mr. Hartner has led technology companies around the world for 30 years in the electronics, cleantech, automation and digital printing industries.   Almost half of this time, he lived and worked in Asia and Europe.   He founded Digital Industrialist LLC, a company that advises and invests in digital manufacturing businesses.   In the 3D industry, he served as Chief Operating Officer of EnvisionTEC, a healthcare 3D printing leader.  Previously he had a 14-year career leading business units of Dover Corporation, most recently as President and CEO of Dover Printing & Identification Segment.  Prior to that, he served in various leadership roles with FMC Technologies and Rockwell International.   He received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University.

    Brian Smith is the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at The ExOne Company where he is responsible for Corporate Development by providing strategic input on growth and restructuring initiatives. Mr. Smith joined the company in 2013 as CFO and Treasurer, a position served until July 2018.  Prior to joining The ExOne Company, he was an Assurance Client Service Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PwC"), in the firm's Pittsburgh, PA office. Mr. Smith joined PwC in 1984, was admitted as a Partner in 1995, and has spent several years working in a PwC advisory business assisting industrial products, healthcare and energy companies with internal control reviews, system implementations, process transformation and change management. Mr. Smith held various leadership roles within PwC, including leading initiatives in specific consumer and industrial product sectors. Mr. Smith is a certified public accountant and received a B.A. degree with a concentration in accounting and a minor in economics from Westminster College in 1980.

    Douglas Zemba is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at The ExOne Company where he is responsible for all financial management and accounting matters. Mr. Zemba has served as our Chief Accounting Officer and Assistant Treasurer since March 26, 2013, through which he has had responsibility for the Company’s global accounting and financial reporting. Mr. Zemba joined the Company on January 1, 2013 as Director of Finance shortly before the Company’s initial public offering on February 7, 2013. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Zemba was a Senior Manager in the Assurance practice of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (“PwC”). Mr. Zemba joined PwC in 2003 holding various positions within the Assurance practice servicing both public and private clients in the manufacturing, industrial products, and metals industries. Mr. Zemba received a B.S. degree in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University in 2002.

    Charlie joined the Company on May 15, 2019 as Chief Customer Officer. As Chief Customer Officer, Charlie is focused on serving the Company’s 3D printing machine products and services customers and potential customers. Charlie has over 25 years of experience in working with customers to transform analog processes into robust digital solutions within the graphic communications and additive manufacturing markets.

    From January 2018 through May 2019, Charlie was Senior Vice President-US Production Business for Xerox Corporation, responsible for the sales strategy, execution and customer engagement of the Production Systems portfolio across the United States. In this leadership position, he led the go-to-market initiatives of the entire suite of production offerings, including color and monochrome, inkjet presses and workflow solutions. From September 2015 to October 2017, Charlie was Chief Revenue Officer for 3D Systems Corporation, a global 3D printer, materials and services business. Prior to 3D Systems, Charlie worked for over 16 years at Electronics for Imaging, Inc. in a series of leadership positions, ultimately serving as Vice President, Americas from 2007 to September 2015.

    Charlie earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University in New York City and a B.A. from St. Michael’s College in Vermont.

    Loretta L. Benec, Esq. joined ExOne in October 2017. Ms. Benec co-founded and serves as Co-Ambassador of the Women in 3D Printing – Pittsburgh Chapter. Most recently, Ms. Benec has provided corporate and commercial legal services as General Counsel to Cumberland Highstreet Partners, Inc., a manufacturing consulting business. Previously, Ms. Benec was Assistant General Counsel & Secretary for RTI International Metals, Inc. (now Arconic Inc.), a NYSE-listed global supplier of advanced titanium products primarily to the commercial aerospace market.  Prior to RTI, Ms. Benec enjoyed a more than twelve-year career in the law department of H. J. Heinz Company (now The Kraft Heinz Company), a NYSE-listed global packaged food company. Ms. Benec received a B.A. in History with High Honors, cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1992 and a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1995.

    As the VP of Metal Commercial Products, Mr.  Pierce is responsible for Global Metal Machine Sales, Manufacturing and Service and Metal Part Sales and Manufacturing.  Mr. Pierce previously served as COO - North America and Japan for ExOne. From 2008 - 2013, he served in the role of VP global supply chain for Biomet 3i (med device) and Laird technologies (high tech). From 1997 - 2008, Mr. Pierce worked in various director-level business leadership roles, primarily in the Asia Pacific, for Owens Corning where he led the startup of 4 businesses and 7 factories. Mr. Pierce has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Babson College.

    Rick Lucas has served as the Chief Technology Officer for The ExOne company since June 2012.   Mr. Lucas has responsibility for the corporation’s R&D investments and manages the New Markets Group. Prior to joining The ExOne Company, he served in various positions at Touchstone Research Laboratory from October 2001 to June 2012, where he directed operations and research activities and served as Director of Operations from March 2010 to June 2012. From November 1989 to October 2001, Mr. Lucas managed product development for Lake Shore Cryotronics, a privately held developer of cryogenic temperature sensors and other instrumentation. Rick has more than 25 years’ experience in product development, manufacturing and business development. He has set up manufacturing and business operations on over 20 different advanced material products, including four R&D 100 award winners. He currently serves on the governance board for America Makes and serves on the Materials Processing Equipment Technical Advisory Committee for the United States Department of Commerce.  Also served on America Makes & ANSI Additive Manufacturing Standardization Collaborative (AMSC) committee. Rick holds an A.A.S in Manufacturing Technology, B.A. in Physics as well as an MBA.

    Since November 2017 Roland Ladewig is CTO (Chief Technology Officer), Managimng Director and Director After Sales of ExOne GmbH. In the past, he worked as Managing Director of medium size companies in affiliated corporations within the segment Machine- und Plant Engineering, Automation, Industry 4.0 and Energy. He had a leading role in strategic alignment und restructuring of global sectors (divisions), optimizing processes related to complete change management, harmonizing and including local business units into the main strategic goals, as well as post-merger integration.

    Mr. Bader has served as Chief Financial Officer for our European operations from April 2015, before he became General Manager in February 2017. He is bringing more than 10 years of experience in strategic planning and implementation. Prior to ExOne he has served in various roles including Financial Controller, China General Manager, Europe General Manager, Business Unit Director, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director. Mr. Bader has spent the majority of his professional career within an international environment, ranging from Multi-Site-Responsibilities in Asia and Europe, management of sales staff & representatives in Europe, reporting into US headquarters to living abroad in Malaysia and China.

    Mr. Helfrich serves as ExOne’s Chief Commercial Officer.  In this role, he is responsible for global marketing and sales activities, including commercial processes world-wide.  Since 2012, he has held a variety of roles within the Company.  Prior to his current role, Mr. Helfrich served as Commercial Director – Indirect Printing – where he was accountable for all commercial processes.  He previously held roles as Director of Global Sales, where he engaged in all global sales activities and Director of Global Direct Printing including: sales, marketing, and product development functions.  Mr. Helfrich joined ExOne Company in 2012 as a Business Analyst, and was significantly involved in the Company’s preparation and ultimate IPO and secondary offering.  Mr. Helfrich earned an M.B.A. with concentration in Operations Research from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business and a B.S.B.A from Duquesne University.
